A loved Upper West Side bakery noted for its huge cookies.  Especially chocolate chip.  Their reputation is well earned.

What to Know:

What for years was just a beloved Upper West Side cookie bakery, has gone national.  In addition to their growing number of stores in NYC, Levain has expanded to Wainscott, Long Island, Bethesda, Maryland, and Georgetown in Washington, D.C.  They also ship nationwide and are selling their cookies frozen (you reheat them at home) in supermarket freezer cases.  We've not tried this version and can't vouch for them either way.
