A wine store in the Flatiron neighborhood with a carefully edited selection of 365 wines.  Their approach is thematic:  wine for take-out food, wine for gifts or special events, and choosing wine to match the big categories of seafood, poultry or meat.  It may sound a bit simplistic, but in fact the store is trying to give us customers a way into the sometimes daunting wine world.

What's great:
The store is bright and welcoming.  While they seem to think many of their customers only eat take-out food, don't hold this against them as the selection is, in fact, varied with good choices at all price points.  They give serioius attention to wine education with a library, tastings, and good information in the store displays.

What to know:
Being a downtown store, Bottlerocket stays tuned to what's selling at the Union Square Greenmarket and makes wine suggestions accordingly.  They also sell organic wines.
