Budmo! and Support for Ukraine

Anna Voloshyna was born in Ukraine and now lives in California but could not have seen the heartache to come as she wrote Budmo! Recipes from a Ukrainian Kitchen. The flavors and nostalgia of Anna's cookbook are also personal to me as despite my Irish name, my mother was Ukrainian. My grandparents immigrated from a village southwest of Lviv and my mom was the first of their eight children born in America.  I was raised on Ukrainian flavors and warm hospitality -- Budmo means "cheers!" -- and my kinship with Ukraine only makes this barbaric war even more horrific and painful.

Anna has the good fortune to have Rizzoli New York as her publisher.  Rizzoli will publish this, her debut cookbook, this fall but if you pre-order it between now and June 1st — exclusively from Rizzoli Bookstore — 10% of its proceeds will be donated to José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen which is feeding millions of Ukrainian refugees.
