What's in Season: Easter Candy at Li-Lac

An Easter Tradition of Hand-Made Chocolates

No chocolate store in New York knows how to make Easter candy like Li-Lac. This master artisanal chocolate maker offers a bunny farm of chocolate (dark, milk and white) animals, with solid and semi-solid Easter rabbits in all sizes and animated poses, from minis up to an impressive extra large semi-solid bunny.  Plus my favorite, an adorable chocolate Easter lamb.

The milk or dark chocolate covered eggs come in a choice of fillings, any one of which may trigger childhood memories: chocolate truffle, raspberry, lemon chiffon, buttercream, marzipan, coconut, chocolate fudge, maple walnut, peanut butter, or chocolate mousse.  There are also beautiful foil-covered chocolate (white, milk, milk crispy, dark) solid eggs.

For those who want chocolate but can't eat sugar, you won't be left out with their sugar-free chocolate bunnies.

Jelly Beans and Easter Baskets

While hand-made chocolate is Li-Lac's deserved legacy, they also sell pectin jelly beans that have bright fruit flavor. And for fun and nostalgia, there are beautifully crafted sugar panoramic eggs from mini to large.

If you're buying Li-Lac Easter candy as a gift, the store has put charming gift baskets and pails together at various prices, from small to grand. They can also help you put your own gift-wrapped selection together.

Call ahead to place an order or visit either the main store at 40 Eighth Avenue (at Jane Street) or in Grand Central Terminal's Food Market Hall. But go soon. These are hand-made and precious. When they're gone, they're gone.

Visit their web site for addresses, telephone numbers and store hours.
